(EXPERTS USE NANOTECH TO DELIVER ANTI-CANCER GENES)

British scientists said, they had developed a treatment that transports anti-cancer genes selectively into cancer cells using nanotechnology. The therapy has so far but the aim is to test it in humans within two years. It would provide a highly targeted mechanism for delivering cancer-fighting gene therapy. When it packaged anti-cancer genes in very small particles that are only taken by cancer cells, leaving healthy cells unharmed and the genes force the cell to produce proteins that can kill the cancer.

It also approach may be particularly useful for people with cancers that are inoperable because they are close to vital organs such as the brain. As a results therapy is viewed as promising area of research for treating cancer and other disease, but genes to exactly the right place in the body is a major challenge.

(SCIENTIST SNARE 3-D IMAGES OF OLDEST FOSSIL BRAIN)

In Paris , the scientist released the 300-million year old brain. The first time that soft tissue from such an ancient fossil has ever been seen. The brain was found in the skull of fish called an iniopterygian, an relative of shark and another latter-day species called the ratfish. Iniop terygians were once common place in the world’s oceans.

Usually fossil are inevitably flattened because of the weight of layers, and soil or rock that accumulate on the dead animal over million of years, the brain has a large lobe for vision but a reduced area for auditory input and it together with the position of the ear canals, suggests the iniopterygian could hear side-to-side movements but not up-and-down ones.
