Global Temperature Will Rise 6C This Century.
Based on the article, according to t scientist surging global greenhouse gas emission mean the world now faces likely temperature rise of up to 5-6C this century. Almost impossible for the world to achieve the UN target of parenting global temperature rise exceeding 2C. The world’s ocean could rise by a meter or more over the next century and that low lying coastal areas will be risk of inundation with hundreds of millions of people displaced, especially in developing countries.
The report from IPCC made over cautious assumption about how these emissions would rise I future and conclude it would be possible to prevent a total global temperature rise of more than 2C compared with pre-industrial times.

Scientist Receives international Award in Ecology and Conservation.

Jeremy Jackson, a professor at Script Institution of Oceanography at UC San Diego has been selected as co- recipient of the international Award for Research In Ecology and Conservation Biology by the BBVA Foundation.
In 2001, Jackson led an international team of scientist in a study of the destructive consequences of over fishing on marine ecosystem over hundred of years. The study, which appeared in the journal science, gives a sobering new insight into efforts to restore and replenish biodiversity in the oceans. Jackson also holds a senior scientist position at the Smithsonian tropical Research Institute in the Republic of Panama.
