The Scottish Government has announced 2.5m for a network of healthy living centres set up by the lottery fund.
The future of the centres, which help adopt a healthier lifestyle, has been in doubt after funding dried up healthy Secretary Nicola Sturgeon the one year transaction fund would keep the centres open until they found an alternative source of money. The centres have used lottery funding for the past five years to provide services such as healthy eating advice, help to stop smoking, and information bout alcohol misuse and sexual health.
The BBC radio Scotland told that will allow healthy living centres whose big lottery funding has come to an end to continue to give them more to find alterantive.The Scottish Government would not guarantee longer tern funding. They will also need to support of local partners and be providing services judged appropriate to local needs.


CHAPTER 8:A HEALTHY DIET FOR EVERYONE & WHY DO I EAT WHEN I’M NOT HUNGRY
-Nine Healthy Towns get 30m pot-


Nine areas have been given the go- ahead to become healthy towns under a plan by minister to combat obesity.
The areas will all match the government funding to develop a host of schemes related to cycling, walking, healthy eating and green spaces. It is part of a wider public health drive being rolled out in England. "For the first time we've given nine areas "healthy town" status. This means they must promote healthy living. Each town has come up with innovative ways such as a loyalty schemes or cycling projects to help their residents to be more active.
"Healthy towns is just the start. Our aim is to create a healthy England.Which is a loyalty scheme to reward people with free activities or healthy food when they take exercise.
And in Tower Hamlets, a new award scheme will be launched promoting how healthy fast food outlets, cafes and restaurants are. The healthy towns are part of the Change4Life campaign, the government's public health drive to encourage a "lifestyle revolution
